Asian Wedding Customs Explained

After the marriage service, or sometimes the next day, the brides serve drink to their kids. This is a symbolic movement to show appreciation and respect for the love and support they have received throughout their lives from their families and ancestors. The couple also offers their parents red envelopes filled with money ( also called hong bao ) as a symbol of good luck.
This enjoyable custom can be carried out either before or after the marriage ceremony. During the procession, the groom and his crew did light fireworks, affect gongs, and have lanterns and banners to ward off evil spirits and encouraged their new bride. The groom and his entourage are typically denied a view of the bride’s home until they turn in adequately red envelopes or hong bao to appease their hosts when they arrive at the bride’s home.

This is a lovely way to honor and appreciate the important union between a husband and wife. The couple’s aspirations for prosperity and happiness may be kept at the forefront of their minds as they continue to circle the divine fire.
